overlayThumb These photographs, most of which have never been seen, were among the first of the original band configuration.

The photos were shot during the fall of 1975 at the Bowery address where Chris Stein, Deborah Harry and Gary Valentine lived. At that time, the building was one huge apartment with stairways linking the 4 floors. There was a liquor store on the ground floor. The band occupied the 2nd floor, Benton Quin, the landlord, was on the 3rd and at the time of the photos the 4th floor was being used by whoever for whatever. Not long after our session up there, Benton's friend, Stephen Sprouse rented it.

One of these photographs was the cover shot of New York Rocker (of which I was a founding member) issue # 3.

If you'd like to see more of my pictures and read more about this time and place I recommend Gary Valentine's book; New York Rocker; My Life in the Blank Generation which can be linked to through my links page.

My own year zero picture book (incl. Blondie) is coming.

There are many more photographs from this session and others. To inquire, please contact me through this website.
