biography

Nicole Gibbs
 received her MFA from The Ohio State University in 2009, where she was a John Cavanaugh Sculpture Fellow. With degrees in painting, art history, ceramics, and sculpture, her multi-disciplinary practice combines drawing and painting, clay, fibers, reused materials, and collaborative practice. She has shown nationally and internationally, including exhibitions at The Sculpture Center (Cleveland, OH), AIRY Gallery (Kofu, Japan), Portland Art Center (Portland, OR), The Evergreen State College Gallery (Olympia, WA), Movement Research (New York, NY) and Green Street Studios (Cambridge, MA). She has been a resident artist at AIR-Yamanashi (Kofu, Japan), Anderson Center at Tower View (Red Wing, MN), and Burren College of Art (Ballyvaughan, Ireland).

Gibbs is a fellow of the US-Japan Leadership Program, a network of Japanese and American leaders in government, business, academic, and nonprofit sectors who gather and present at annual conferences in each country. Her professional background includes serving as Studio Director to artist Ann Hamilton; teaching at Columbus College of Art & Design (Columbus, OH), The Evergreen State College (Olympia, WA) and The Ohio State University (Columbus, OH); curatorial work at The Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Craft (Portland, OR). She lives and works in Columbus, Ohio.
